Department of Music

The McIntire Department of Music presents a free concert recital by Julianna Lee, percussion Sunday, April 8 at 3:30pm in Old Cabell Hall.

Julianna Lee is a fourth year student at the University of Virginia.  She will graduate this Spring with a degree in Music with a Performance Concentration in percussion.  She became interested in percussion in the fifth grade and quickly developed a love for the art.  In high school, she made All District Band three times, specifically third chair percussion junior year and second chair senior year.  She hopes to pursue a career in the music industry as a member of a military band, an orchestra, or a percussion group.  In the spring of 2017, she was one of two percussionists selected from a pool of applicants across the nation to perform with the U.S. Air Force Band in their Collegiate Symposium.  She has thoroughly enjoyed furthering her musical studies here at UVA, namely in courses such as Music Ethnography and History of Jazz.  She is also a member of the UVA Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and Marching Band.  She performed with The Oratorio Society of Virginia in their Christmas at the Paramount performance this December 2017.  In addition, she is the Dance Captain of a group named AKAdeMiX, a hip-hop dance crew at UVA, and gets to travel across the east coast to compete and perform. 

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda (map). Parking is available in the Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Road, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.
