Aiman Khan will present a fourth year distinguished major french horn recital March 30, 1:00pm in Old Cabell Hall.

Aiman Khan is in her fourth year of study at the University of Virginia. She will graduate in May with degrees in Economics and Music, with a Performance Concentration. During her time at UVA, she has performed with the Charlottesville Symphony, UVA Wind Ensemble, Cavalier Marching Band, and several chamber ensembles, including a brass quintet, a brass trio, and a horn quartet. The music department also hosts a yearly Brass Fest, during which Aiman has played in masterclasses with Eli Epstein and members of New Chicago Brass.

Aiman has primarily studied horn under Professor Katy Ambrose at the University of Virginia. In Spring 2017, she spent a semester studying abroad in Vienna, Austria, where she played in several chamber ensembles, performed a solo recital, and studied with Franz Söllner of the Vienna Philharmonic. During the summer of 2018, she spent five weeks in Greensboro, NC at the Eastern Music Festival, where she performed new orchestral repertoire weekly and studied with Andrew McAfee.

During her last year at UVA, Aiman has begun composing as well as performing, and has performed her own pieces at the 2018 UVA Fall Dance Concert and at the 2019 National Student Electronic Music Event. She also performed with other UVA students and faculty at the international conference of New Interfaces for Musical Expression (NIME) in June 2018. At the end of her third year, Aiman received a grant from the Wednesday Music Club in recognition of her achievements within the music department, and in support of future projects.

Aiman is excited to present a program of music by female composers to wrap up her time at UVA. She plans to advance her studies in horn and in composition after graduating from UVA, and hopes to continue performing in Charlottesville in the coming year.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
