Come to The University of Virginia's Flute Ensemble Fall Concert Sunday, November 12th at 1:00pm in the Rotunda Dome Room.

The UVA Flute Ensemble is comprised of talented student musicians majoring in all areas of study at the University.
The University of Virginia Flute Ensemble is pleased to present its fall recital on Sunday, November 12 at 1:00 pm in the Dome Room of UVA's historic Rotunda. This recital features music by Joseph Boismortier, Adolphus Hailstork, Joseph Haydn, Catherine McMichael, and W.A. Mozart. In the true spirit of chamber music the ensemble will perform several of these works without conductor, in an effort to highlight the conversational qualities of playing music in an intimate chamber setting.

The UVA Flute Ensemble, directed by faculty member Kelly Sulick, is comprised of talented student musicians majoring in all areas of study at the University.  The ensemble features Emily Buckley, Carolyn Graham, Yeonji Kim, Bonnie Laingen, Avery Morrison, Leela Shah, Adriece Sharpe, and Jane She.

The University of Virginia’s Rotunda was designed by Thomas Jefferson as the architectural and academic heart of the University’s community of scholars. He named the University’s original buildings the “Academical Village.” As the phrase suggests, the Academical Village is based on the Jeffersonian principle that learning is a lifelong process, and that interaction between faculty and students is vital to the pursuit of knowledge. Jefferson modeled the Rotunda after the Pantheon, a second-century temple in Rome. Construction began in 1822 and was completed in 1826, shortly after Jefferson’s death on July 4 of that year. Together with Monticello, the Academical Village is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. 

Parking is on the street or in one of the many parking lots & garages on "the Corner" or in the Central Grounds Parking Garage.  The Charlottesville Free Trolly stops in front of the Rotunda on University Avenue.
