Family Weekend Choral Showcase

Friday, November 03 - 2017

Join the University Singers, UVA Chamber Singers, Virginia Glee Club, and Virginia Women’s Chorus for the traditional Family Weekend Choral Showcase—Friday, November 3rd, 8:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall on the Lawn at the University of Virginia.

The concert’s lively and varied program will feature selections from all four ensembles’ 2017 repertoire—including works by Eriks Esenvalds, Ola Gjeilo, and Eric Whitacre; a Dona Nobis Pacem prayer, and choral arrangements of “Who’ll Join,” “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho, and Ben Folds’ “The Luckiest.”

The evening will close with a joint performance of an excerpt from Randall Thompson’s Testament of Freedom, as well as the beloved UVA songs, sung by the combined choruses (nearly 200 voices strong), who will be joined on stage by their alumni.

The Virginia Women’s Chorus is conducted by KaeRenae Mitchell, the Virginia Glee Club is led by conductor Frank Albinder, and the University Singers and UVA Chamber Singers are directed by UVA faculty conductor Michael Slon.

Tickets for the program are available at the UVa Arts Box Office in the Culbreth building, online at artsboxoffice.virginia.edu or by calling (434) 924-3376.  Tickets will also be available at the door.
