South American Cello Octets

Works by Piazzolla and Villa-Lobos, Featuring Zoe Gray, soprano

The UVA McIntire Department of Music presents a concert of South American music for cello octet, featuring Heitor Villa-Lobos' Bachianas Brasilieras No. 1 for eight cellos, and Bachianas Brasileras no. 5  for eight cellos and soprano, with guest vocalist Zoe Gray.  The program will also include an exciting and flamboyant arrangement of Astor Piazzolla's Four Seasons.

This free concert takes place at 8pm on Monday, April 15th at 8pm in the UVa Chapel. Cellists Megan Berntsen, Adam Cooper, Brent Davis, John Kanu, Nicholas Rupert, Daniel Song, Isabella Tucker, and Josef Zimmerman will be performing.

The UVA Chapel is located on McCormick Road adjacent to the Rotunda and across the street from Alderman Library.  (map) Parking is available in the central grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, and along the streets by the Chapel. The Chapel is accessible to all and handicap parking is available directly across the street.
