SOLOS 1: Katie Schetlick // Anna Wang // Kyle Hutchins
The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative and the McIntire Department of Music present Solos 1 featuring Katie Schetlick, Kyle Hutchins and Anna Wang on Saturday, September 14th at 8pm at The Bridge. This event is free and open to the public,
Solos is a series of radical interpretations, re-compositions, a platform to present solo work from a new perspective that maintains accountability to the original.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Believing in the mess, Katie Schetlick engages dance as a mode(s) of being, an historical object, a process of joyous unproductivity, and a subversive and controlling apparatus all at once. She has never made a solo and neither will she, ever.
Kyle Hutchins is a performing artist, improviser, chamber musician, and educator. His work focuses on the creation and promotion of experimental art music, both as a soloist and in close collaboration with composers, performers, and interdisciplinary artists. He often makes sound wielding a saxophone, his voice, and technology.
Anna Wang is a visual artist from Upstate NY, currently working in Charlottesville. AW is interested in visual explorations of mundane ritual, asian-american consciousness, and food anthropology. Please find her at The Bridge co-hosting the film series, bi-weekly on Thursdays.
