Old Cabell Hall

Ms. Baylor Towne will perform a Distinguished Major Violin Recital on Friday, March 29 at 3:00pm in Old Cabell Hall.

Baylor Towne is a fourth-year student at the University of Virginia, graduating this May with degrees in Music with a Performance Concentration, Computer Science, and a Russian minor. She began playing violin at the age of six and piano at the age of seven, and performing music has been a lifelong passion.

During her time at the University of Virginia, Baylor has studied violin under the instruction of Professor David Sariti. She discovered a love for playing early music on the Baroque violin three years ago after joining the Early Music Ensemble at UVA. She has enjoyed being a part of the vibrant music community at UVA by playing in chamber ensembles, the Charlottesville Symphony, and Kinetic Sound.

Her recital program includes Fantasia No. 4 for Solo Violin by Telemann, Sonata No. 1 in G minor by J. S. Bach, Sonata No. 1 in A minor by Robert Schumann, and more.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda (map). Parking is available in the Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Road, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.

Please call the Music Department at 434.924.3052 for more information.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
