Chamber Singers Spring Concert
The UVA Chamber Singers invite the UVA and Charlottesville communities to their spring concert at Old Cabell Hall – Friday, Apr. 14th at 8:00pm. The performance will feature Passion Music, including Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, excerpts from Poulenc’s Four Lenten Motets, Lotti’s “Crucifixus” motet, and several movements from Scottish composer James MacMillan’s stunningly powerful Seven Last Words from the Cross, a work originally aired in seven evening episodes on BBC Television. The Chamber Singers will be joined by musicians from the Charlottesville Symphony, as well as several guest soloists.
Founded in 2005, the UVA Chamber Singers is a select ensemble drawn from the University Singers, and performs a wide variety of music for chamber choir ranging from early music to contemporary compositions. Active as a conductor of choral, orchestral, and operatic repertoire, Michael Slon is currently Conductor of the University Singers, Chamber Singers, and a professor on the music faculty at the University of Virginia, where he also guest conducts the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia. He also serves as the Music Director of the Oratorio Society of Virginia.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda (map). Parking is available in the Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Rd, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner. Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.
