Choral Showcase

November 5, 2016 - 7:00pm
Old Cabell Hall
$10 for the general public and $5 for students.

Join the University Singers, UVa Chamber Singers, Virginia Glee Club, and Virginia Women’s Chorus for the traditional Family Weekend Choral Showcase—Saturday November 5th, 7:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall on the famed Lawn at the University of Virginia.

The concert’s lively and varied program will feature selections from all four ensembles’ 2016 repertoire—including works by Tcherepnin and Rachmaninoff, Jake Runestad’s “Come to the Woods” on a John Muir text, arrangements of “Amazing Grace” and “Yonder Come Day,” and “How Are Things in Glocca Morra” from Finian’s Rainbow.

The evening will close with a joint performance of Handel’s famed “Zadok the Priest” from his Coronation Anthems, as well as the beloved UVA songs, sung by the combined choruses (nearly 200 voices strong), who will be joined on stage by their alumni.

The Virginia Women’s Chorus is conducted by KaeRenae Mitchell, the Virginia Glee Club is led by conductor Frank Albinder, and the University Singers and UVA Chamber Singers are directed by UVA faculty conductor Michael Slon.

Tickets for the program are available at the UVa Arts Box Office in the Culbreth building, online at artsboxoffice.virginia.edu or by calling (434) 924-3376.  Tickets will also be available at the door.
