Noel Lobley at the British Forum for Ethnomusicology Annual Conference

Noel Lobley presented at the British Forum for Ethnomusicology’s Annual Conference, themed ‘Collaborative Ethnomusicology’ – held in Aberdeen, 11-14 April 2019. Together with long-term collaborator Xolile ‘X’ Madinda, Noel presented ‘Building Pan-African Arts Spaces: creative collaborations with the Black Power Station’,  a live conversation with Makhanda, South Africa. Noel also chaired a panel featuring collaborators, Lee Watkins, Elijah Madiba and Boudina McConnachie from the International Library of African Music (ILAM). Elijah, Boudina and Noel travelled to London for a meeting at Google Arts and Culture, set up by Beating Heart Music, a record label that is currently pioneering a remix project working alongside ILAM.
