On Friday, 21 November, at 8:00 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall auditorium the Early Music Ensemble will present a concert featuring Baroque music for orchestra and chamber ensemble, Renaissance vocal polyphony, and consort music for viola da gamba and recorder. Featured works will be George Frederick Handel’s ever-popular “Entrance of the Queen of Sheba” from the oratorio Solomon, the imposing “Chaconne” from the last act of Jean Baptiste Lully’s opera Amadis, and Orlande de Lassus’s Missa super Frere Thibault for four-part vocal ensemble. All of the instrumental performances will be done on period instruments.
