Free Bridge Quintet presents "Obrigado Brazil"

The Free Bridge Quintet presents "Obrigado Brazil", a concert featuring the work of Brazilian musicians to take place on Friday, October 14th at 8:00pm in Old Cabell Hall. Celebrating Brazil's rich musical heritage, the Quintet will showcase the country's vibrant culture and its influence on the American jazz scene. 

The Quintet will feature the works of Brazilian luminaries Antônio Carlos Jobim, Sérgio Mendes, and Luiz Bonfá along with the American jazz musicians they influenced. The performance will feature typical Brazilian styles like bossa nova and samba and will feature such well known pieces as "Mas Que Nada", "Chega de Saudade" and "Manhã de Carnaval". 

The Free Bridge Quintet, the official faculty jazz quintet of the University of Virginia, features Jeff Decker on saxophones, Robert Jospé on the drums, Peter Spaar on bass, John D’earth on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Butch Taylor on piano.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda (map). Parking is available in the Central Grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Rd, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.  Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.
