On Saturday March 30th, the Free Bridge Quintet will perform a concert honoring the musical legacy of jazz pianist and vocalist Nat King Cole who, had he lived, would turn 100 years old on St. Patrick's Day. The concert will trace Cole's ground-breaking journey across the color barrier of the 1950's to become one of America's most beloved musical icons.  From his early hipster originals such as "Straighten Up and Fly Right"  and "The Frim-Fram Sauce" to his  later string of chart-topping hits like "Nature Boy" and "Smile",  the Quintet will honor Nat King Coles' legacy as a  trailblazer who paved the way for the success of other African-American artists such as Harry Belafonte and Johnny Mathis.

Tickets are $15 General, $13 for UVA Faculty & Staff, $5 for Students and Free for UVA Students who reserve in advance. Tickets can be purchased at the Arts Box Office at artsboxoffice.virginia.edu or by calling 434.924.3376.
