Charlottesville Symphony - Masterworks 4
Laura Jackson, Guest Conductor
Clara Yang, Piano
Led by Guest Conductor Laura Jackson, the orchestra presents a concert of spectacular color and diversity. Pianist Clara Yang solos on Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, beloved for its formal inventiveness and one of the most irresistible melodies ever written. Christopher Theofanidis’ electrifying Rainbow Body, Tchaikovsky’s darkly alluring suite from Swan Lake and Copland’s expansive evocation of the American west, the Billy the Kid suite, round out the program.
This program includes Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake Suite, Op. 20A, Rachmaninov's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, Theofanidis' Rainbow Body, and Copland's Billy the Kid Suite
In-depth program notes are posted on the orchestra’s website, www.cvillesymphony.org two weeks prior to each Masterworks concert.
