Neal CareyThe University McIntire Department of Music presents a master class by cellist Neal Cary on Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 2pm in 107 Old Cabell Hall.  The master class is free and open to the public.  Guest cellist Neal Cary will teach UVa student cellists in a format open to the public.  Neal Cary is principal cello of the Richmond Symphony and Eastern Music Festival as well as Instructor of Cello at the College of William & Mary.

Mr. Cary has been principal cellist with the Richmond Symphony since 1988, and has been on the performing artist faculty at the College of William and Mary since 1991. He has also served as principal cellist of the Williamsburg Symphonia since 2002. Since 1989, he has been a member of the Richmond Chamber Players, which performs chamber music concerts every Sunday in August.

Previous to Mr. Cary's employment in the Richmond Symphony, he was co-principal cellist of the Kansas City Philharmonic and assistant principal cellist of the Tulsa Philharmonic, the San Antonio Symphony, and the Denver Symphony orchestras.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic Lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda. Parking is available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage, or in the lots off University Avenue at the University Corner. Handicapped parking is available in the C1 parking lot (behind Bryan Hall) or in designated spaces on McCormick Avenue.
