The University of Virginia McIntire Department of Music presents the Nancy Ambrose King Oboe Recital on Saturday, March 17th at 3:30pm in Old Cabell Hall. Please join us for an exciting opportunity as professor Nancy Ambrose King presents an oboe recital and master class here at UVA! Admission is free and additional performers will include piano professor John Mayhood and oboe professor Aaron Hill from the McIntire Department of Music.

King has performed all over the globe, appearing with orchestras in Russia, Japan, Puerto Rico, England, and more. She has performed as a soloist in Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. King has recorded CDs for multiple record companies as well, including a soon-to-be-released mix of 20th Century oboe concertos performed with the Prague Chamber Orchestra. She has been heard on the radio as well, with WQXR in New York, and on NPR's "Performance Today."

The American Record Guide said of Professor King in 2010 that she "has a gorgeous tone and plays with heartfelt expression." Fanfare added later that year that "there never is any doubt regarding soloist Nancy Ambrose King. She is superlative."

King graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Music degree, and earned a Doctor of Musical Arts, Master of Music, and Performer's Certificate from the Eastman School of Music. She was awarded the 2010 Hall of Fame Award by the School of Music at the University of Michigan.
