Virginia Women's Chorus: "Music Down in My Soul"

Come celebrate spring with enlivening spirituals, exquisite and humorous love songs, and songs honoring the earth. Performances will range from the popular Billy Joel ballad, "And So It Goes," to traditional "Down in the River to Pray," to the familiar spiritual "Ride the Chariot." This diverse display of music is sure to inspire and uplift audiences of any age! The Chorus is known for bringing novelty to its concerts and this year will be no different with the addition of body percussion.
The Virginia Women's Chorus, conducted by Katherine Mitchell, is committed to excellence in the performance of classical, contemporary and diverse music from the challenging choral literature for women's voices. The Chorus seeks to inspire in the choral art form through the celebration of women’s repertoire. Comprised of devoted and talented young women from seven countries and nine states, this ensemble is student-run and continues to uphold its tradition of exceptional music. Accolades come from many concert-goers and include comments such as this: “The concert was stunningly beautiful, sensitively programmed and a musical treat of the highest order. It really was quite amazing.”
Admission to the concert is $15 for adults and $5 for students and may be purchased from the Arts Box Office and by phone at (434) 924-3376. Free parking is available in the C1 lot off McCormick Rd, and the K2 lot behind South Lawn. Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.
