- Old Cabell Hall

This chamber music performance is the culmination of an intense, five-day chamber music workshop, Beyond the Notes.... Workshop participants, selected from middle school, high school, college and adult amateur applicants, are coached by UVA music faculty and other local professional musicians. They develop musicianship skills which go "beyond the notes" to focus on style, character, interpretation and expression. This year's participants come from the Charlottesville area, Harrisonburg, Northern Virginia, and from as far away as Oregon and Hawaii. Each day they have four hours of chamber music rehearsals and coachings, as well as master classes and a full orchestra rehearsal.
The performance is Saturday, June 20th, 2009, at 3PM, and will include chamber music works by Beethoven, Brahms, Franckenpohl, Poulenc, Mozart, Zelenka, Dubois, and Martinu. The concert will conclude with a full orchestra performance of works by Mozart, Haydn and Faure, led by Kate Tamarkin, Music Director of the Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra.
