The Oratorio Society presents Christmas at The Paramount
The Oratorio Society of Virginia returns to the Paramount for this beloved Charlottesville family favorite. Join Music Director Michael Slon and 80 of our community’s finest singers.
The concert will feature Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Fantasia on Christmas Carols, a vivid and imaginative sonic journey through wintry English landscapes with traditional melodies both familiar and new. The chorus also performs Gerald Finzi’s In Terra Pax, a thoughtful and undeniably hopeful masterpiece set to the poetry of Robert Bridges, evoking the pastoral Christmas before World War I.
Keeping with this event’s tradition, The Oratorio Society will also perform a variety of familiar seasonal favorites, and will be joined on stage by orchestra, soloists, and local community and children’s choirs. Guests are encouraged to bring their singing voices into the hall to join in the sing-along that has become a staple at this joyous event.
