For the first time, Vector Lights on Auckland Harbour Bridge will join the celebrations with a sparkling display from 9pm, before building up to a countdown to midnight, when it will pulse in time with the Auckland Sky Tower.
Sydney New Year's Eve 2019 is an annual multi-tiered event held every New Year's Eve over Sydney Harbour, centering on the Harbour Bridge. Its main features are the two pyrotechnic displays, the 9pm Family Fireworks and the Midnight Fireworks. Each year the event takes on a new theme and is regularly viewed by more than one million people at the harbour and one billion worldwide for the televised Midnight Fireworks.
Australia and New Zealand absolutely don't mess around when it comes to celebrating New Years Eve - they like a party at the best of times, and this is one they like to think of as their very own.
The iconic Australian event is obviously at Sydney Harbour, where the Harbour Bridge fireworks and Opera House setting make for a dramatic backdrop like nowhere else, but other large cities such as Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane all make their own contributions to the party with large scale public events.
