Virginia Women's Chorus Spring Concert: Storm Comin'

There’s a Storm Comin’ when the Virginia Women’s Chorus takes the stage on Saturday, April 2, at 4 pm in Old Cabell Hall. Come and be inspired by music that invites your spirit to soar, even during times of adversity. Celebrate spring with all-time favorites And So It Goes and Over the Rainbow, classics, folk songs, and lively spirituals. An all-female string quintet will accompany the Chorus in the extraordinary Song of the Universal, based on Walt Whitman’s poem of optimism and conviction in the strength and beauty found in our deeper humanity.             

The Virginia Women's Chorus, conducted by Katherine “KaeRenae” Mitchell, is committed to excellence in the performance of classical, contemporary and diverse music from the challenging choral literature for women's voices.  The Chorus seeks to inspire in the choral art form through the celebration of women’s repertoire. Comprised of devoted and talented young women, this ensemble is student-run and continues to uphold its tradition of exceptional music. Accolades come from many concertgoers and include comments such as this: “The concert was stunningly beautiful, sensitively programmed and a musical treat of the highest order.  It really was quite amazing.”                    

Admission to the concert is $15 for adults and $5 for students and may be purchased from the Arts Box Office and by phone at (434)924-3376.
