Minor in Music

The UVA Music Department does not currently have a music minor. In spring 2020, the department was in the process of designing a music minor when the COVID-19 pandemic put that work, and many other administrative projects, on hold. Design of the minor was in early stages of committee work; when we move forward again, the minor will require discussion by the whole Music Department and further approvals by the College of Arts & Sciences. At this point it is not possible to say what the requirements will be if a music minor is approved by the University. If you want to be prepared in case the minor is approved, you won't go wrong if you give priority to private lessons and ensembles, along with 3000-level MUSI courses listed at 3 credits or more. Such courses are central to the major and will undoubtedly be important for the minor as well.
