Vocal Students win Honors at the National Association of Teachers of Singing State Competition
Seven voice students under the studio of Pamela Beasley sang in a total of 13 categories this weekend at the National Association of Teachers of Singing State Competition at VCU. They included: Zoe Gray, Madison Karten, Marcha Kiatrungrit, Joe Cooney, Josie Miller, Wesley Diener and recent alum, Rachel Mink. All scored well and several were winners and earned "Honors" designation qualifying them to advance to the Mid-Atlantic Regional Competition.
Madison Karten was the 1st Place winner in Freshmen Women's Musical Theater category, and won Honors in the Freshmen Women's Classical category.
Zoe Gray won Honors in the Freshmen Women's Musical Theater category.
Joseph Cooney was the 2nd Place winner in the Sophomore Men's Musical Theater category, and the 2nd Place winner in Sophomore Men's Classical category.
Josie Miller was the 3rd Place winner in the combined JR/SR/5th Year Women's Classical category.
Wesley Diener was the 1st Place winner in combined JR/SR/5th Year Men's Classical category, and the 1st Place winner in combined JR/SR/5th Year Men's Musical Theater category.
As first place winners, Madison, Wesley and Rachel all performed on the Statewide Honors Recital.
