Nathan Cho presents his Distinguished Major Violin Recital on Saturday, March 21st at 3:30pm in Old Cabell Hall, a culmination of 13 years of studying how to create music through the violin, most recently under the instruction of Professor Daniel Sender at the University of Virginia.

Nathan is a 4th year double majoring in Statistics and Music with a Performance Concentration. During the past four years, he has been involved in many performance opportunities offered by the McIntire Department of Music, including the Charlottesville Symphony Orchestra, Tea Time Recitals, and other chamber groups. Some of Nathan’s favorite memories of making music at UVA include performing at the Lighting of the Lawn, recording in a studio for a local singer-songwriter, and praising God through his instrument in the Downtown Mall.

Putting together this recital was something that Nathan has been dreaming of since his first year of college, so he looks forward to sharing his music with the people that have supported him through this season of learning and growing as a person and a musician.

The recital program will feature Sonata for Solo Violin in D Major by Sergei Prokofiev, Sonata No. 5 for Violin in F Major by Ludwig van Beethoven, and Sonata No. 1 for Violin and Piano in A Major by Gabriel Fauré. Nathan will be accompanied by Dr. Shelby Sender on the last two pieces.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda. Parking is available in the central grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Rd, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.  Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.

All programs are subject to change.
