Woodwind Ensemble
The Woodwind Ensemble is usually a bassoon ensemble. (Students who do not play the bassoon should still contact the instructor, Elizabeth Roberts, to be connected with the appropriate woodwind chamber music group). The Rotunda Bassoon Ensemble performs at UVA each year on events, such as Making Noise in the Library and Tea Time Recitals. Additionally, the group performs regularly at places in the community, such as the Crozet Mudhouse, and in area nursing homes through the "Nursing Homes Swing" organization. The RBE explores, rehearses, and performs woodwind chamber music, including both standard and more obscure works. Focus is placed on developing chamber music playing skills, learning the tendencies of woodwind instruments, developing musicianship, and enjoying both making and sharing music! The group is led by Elizabeth Roberts, Senior Lecturer in Bassoon at UVA and Principal Bassoon of the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia.
