Ji Nin Loh

Ji Nin Loh will present her distinguished major piano recital on Sunday, November 8th at 8:00 pm in Old Cabell Hall. She will be performing Beethoven's "Waldstein" Sonata, Scriabin's Poem in F#, Rachmaninov's Prelude in G op. 32 no. 5, Chopin's Barcarolle and Scherzo no. 2.

Ji Nin is a four-and-a-half-year double major in Music and Political Philosophy, Policy, and Law. She has been playing the piano for 15 years. Ji Nin has studied piano with Mimi Tung since her first semester at UVA. She has also studied basso continuo with Paul Walker, as well as conducting with Kate Tamarkin and Michael Slon. She has performed with the Virginia Women's Chorus, the Virginia Glee Club, and various chamber ensembles. Ji Nin is also involved with UVA's Early Music ensembles, as well as Musicians on Call, a volunteer organisation that sends musicians to perform in the UVA Hospital lobby. After graduation, Ji Nin hopes to remain active as a musician by installing a piano in the library of her law school.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
