Lawson Anderson, March 28th, 2009 Recital

Lawson Anderson, a fourth year Music and Economics major at the University of Virginia, will perform a Distinguished Majors Recital in voice on Saturday, March 28th, 2009 at 3:30pm in Old Cabell Hall Auditorium. This recital will represent the culmination of eight semesters of vocal study with professors Amanda Balestrieri and James Taylor. Mr. Anderson will perform the following arias, art songs, and oratorio works:

    Rachmaninoff, "All Once I Gladly Owned" (Op. 26 No. 2)
    Wolf, "Verborgenheit" from Mörike-Lieder (No. 12)
  4. Verdi, “Oh! de' verd’anni miei” from Ernani
    Massenet, “Voilà donc la terrible cit é” from Thaïs
  5. Wagner, "O du mein holder Abendstern" from Tannhäuser
    Barber, “Sure On This Shining Night”
    Schönberg, "Stars" from Les Misérables
  6. Mozart, "Là ci darem la mano"from Don Giovanni
    "Papageno! Papagena!" from The Magic Flute
  7. Rossini, "Dunque io son...tu non m'inganni?” & "Largo al factotum" from The Barber of Seville

The concert will feature the accompaniment of pianist David Norfrey and the vocal talents of sopranos Melanie Leinbach and Martha Eason. A reception will follow the event. Admission is free.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
