Lisa Newill-Smith

Lisa Newill-Smith, fourth year soprano, will be presenting her distinguished major recital on Sunday, April 10 at 8pm in Old Cabell Hall. The recital will be a culmination of three years of study with tenor James Taylor and soprano Brenda Roberts at the University of Virginia, and will present opera arias and art songs which examine the social status quo in music, combining her studies in both her music and foreign affairs majors.

Currently in her eighth semester as a University Singer and her fourth as a member of the Chamber Singers, Lisa has also been involved in the student-run opera company Opera Viva, as performer, director and fundraising chair during her eight years at UVa.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
