The University of Virginia McIntire Department of Music presents the Virginia Sinfonietta in concert on Sunday, February 28th at 8:00 p.m. in Old Cabell Hall. 

The Virginia Sinfonietta is a new professional chamber orchestra dedicated to the performance and creation of contemporary art music. This ensemble is the first of its kind in Virginia, unique in its personnel of collaborating university music faculty from across the Commonwealth, as well as in its focus on contemporary music. The primary activity of the ensemble is to present visceral and thought-provoking public performances, create recordings, and host regular outreach and educational events to accompany concert presentations. The ensemble consists of performers and composers representing the faculties of James Madison University, Shenandoah University, the University of Richmond, the University of Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Tickets are $10 for the General Public / $5 for Students and free for UVa Students who reserve in advance.  Tickets can be purchased by going to the Arts Box Office or calling 434.924.3376

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda. (map) Parking is available in the  central grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Rd, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.  Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.
