VWCThe Virginia Women’s Chorus presents its 30th annual Candlelight Concert: “Winter Celebration”. Concertgoers will be taken on a journey with upbeat, contemplative, and humorous music as the women usher in the holiday and winter seasons.  The beauty of the University Chapel and the ambience created by candlelight enhance their exquisite music. The Chorus, known for its unique performances, will present diverse music from Hymnody of Earth by Malcolm Dalglish accompanied by hammer dulcimer and percussion.  Other selections include The Snow by Edward Grieg, a beautiful and evocative song accompanied by two violins and piano, and Nada Te Turbe, a prayer of Teresa of Avila. An added element of surprise will delight audiences.

Tickets are now sold out for both concerts! Parking is available in the U.Va. Central Grounds Parking Garage located on Emmet Street and along the streets surrounding the Chapel.

The candlelight concerts have been said to be one of Charlottesville’s best-kept secrets. Accolades come from many concertgoers and include comments such as this: “The concert was stunningly beautiful, sensitively programmed and a musical treat of the highest order. It really was quite amazing.”
