Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. William Pease, features 45 of the most talented musicians from every school at the University. The ensemble will perform selections from “The Music Man”, "An Alabama Song Book” and “Asphalt Cocktail". UVa Trombone Professor Nathan Dishman will be the featured soloist on “Persuasion”.
The University of Virginia Concert Band under the direction of Andrew Koch and assistant director Michael Idzior will perform works of John Philip Sousa and Ed Huckeby. UVa Fourth Year trumpet player Max Friedfeld will be a featured soloist on Josef Kail's Variations for Trumpet in F, the first solo work ever written for valved trumpet. The work, originally composed for piano and valved trumpet, is now scored for the UVa Concert Band.
The UVA Concert Band is a 60 member ensemble who traditionally perform in the amphitheater on the final Monday of spring semester. This year their final concert will take place on Monday May 2nd at 6:30pm in the UVA Amphitheater.
Tickets for the Wind Ensemble Concert at 3:30pm on Sunday, April 10 are $10 for the General Public, $5 for Students, and free for UVA Students who reserve at least 24 hours in advance.
