The University of Virginia Wind Ensemble will present a very special concert on Sunday, November 16 at 3:30 PM in tandem with Broadway's Les Misérables star Ivan Rutherford. The program will include—Vilabella, by Kenneth Williams, a transcription of Percy Grainger's English Waltz, Robert Russell Bennett's Suite of Old American Dances. The highlight of the performance will feature Mr. Rutherford as guest vocalist on several Les Misérables selections including “Bring Him Home”, “I Dreamed a Dream”, and more.

Mr. Rutherford began his association with Les Misérables as an ensemble member of the National Tour, then went on to take over the role of Valjean. He joined the Broadway cast over a year ago and was asked to continue with this special 10th Anniversary company. His feature roles include Camelot, starring John Cullum, Tony in West Side Story, and The Caliph in Kismet. In 1994 he received a Drama-Logue Award as Lt. Joe Cable in South Pacific. Mr. Rutherford is a native of York, Pennsylvania and is also an accomplished drummer as well as a 1st degree black belt with the Japan Karate Association.

The UVa Wind Ensemble is under the direction of Mr. William Pease, Director of Bands at UVa, and assistant conductor Mr. Andrew Koch. The UVa Wind Ensemble November Concert is sure to be an enjoyable afternoon for persons of all ages. Tickets for the performance may be reserved by calling the Cabell Hall Box Office at (434) 924-3984. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students and 5 ARTS$ for UVa students. The Box Office is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on concert weekends two hours prior to the performance.
