Family Holiday Concert

CHARLOTTESVILLE— The Charlottesville & University Symphony Orchestra and the U.Va University Singers continue a festive community tradition, presenting their seventh annual Family Holiday Concerts on Saturday, December 3, at 8:00 pm, and Sunday, December 4, at 3:30 pm.  Michael Slon, director of U.Va's premiere vocal ensemble, will conduct the performances at Old Cabell Hall on the Grounds of the University of Virginia.

Through the years, these popular concerts have launched the holiday season with an array of music  ranging from the peaceful to the joyous.  Concertgoers young and old, naughty and nice, will recognize favorites that make them positively glow:  Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “Joy to the World,” excerpts from “The Nutcracker,” “Harry’s Wondrous World” from “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” “O Holy Night” featuring soprano Martha Eason, “The Twelve Days of Christmas” with audience participation and more!

Free parking is available in the U.Va Central Grounds Parking Garage located on Emmet Street.  Old Cabell Hall is wheelchair accessible.

These concerts traditionally sell out early.  Tickets range from $10-$38.  U.Va students may request one complimentary ticket in advance.  Tickets may be purchased at the University of Virginia Arts Box Office, (434) 924-3376, 12:00-5:00 pm Monday through Friday in the lobby of the Drama Building at 109 Culbreth Road; at Old Cabell Hall one hour prior to each concert; or on-line at www.artsboxoffice.virginia.edu.  Gift certificates and group discounts are also available through the box office.
