The Making Noise in the Library series brings artists into the Music Library for free performances.

Carlehr Swanson at the pianoVocalist and pianist Carlehr Swanson, a first year Ph.D. student at the University of Virginia, will bring jazz to the unique acoustical space of the Music Library, located in the lower levels of Old Cabell Hall. Carlehr holds degrees in Jazz Vocal Performance from George Mason University and the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami. Her research interests include gospel music, Black studies, women's studies, and civic engagement, and she is currently set to compete in the Miss Virginia Competition in June 2022 as Miss Blueridge. Carlehr's career highlights include performances with Shelia Jordan, The Manhattan Transfer, and The New York Voices.

As she continues sharing her social impact initiative, "Music is Unity," Carlehr's greatest dream is to leave every place better than she found it.

This is free and open to the public (no tickets required).
