Performance
Offering a spectrum of performance opportunities spanning jazz and pop to early music, choral, and orchestral performance, the comprehensive music performance program at UVA appeals to a wide range of student musical interests and talents while engaging with the public and serving the community.
Students involved in our performance program develop their knowledge and skills across a variety of musical disciplines. Through explorations in genres such as hip hop and bluegrass to chamber and digital music, our students gain exposure to a diverse array of musical experiences while honing their craft.
The Performance Concentration is a specialized program for rising third-year music majors. This competitive, audition-based program recognizes significant accomplishment in musical performance by students interested in developing their performance skills beyond the level required for the Bachelor of Arts in Music.
In addition to student ensembles, our performance program boasts a dynamic faculty of renowned performing artists who lead our ensembles, teach our students in private lessons, and help make our performance program one of the most exciting in any public or private university in the nation.
