Lecturer in Music, Horn

The Department of Music at the University of Virginia seeks applications for an Lecturer in Music with a specialization in Horn. The appointment begins on August 26, 2025. This is a one-year, wage, benefits-eligible, tenure-ineligible appointment. Duties include performing as Principal Horn in the Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia, coaching orchestra horn sectionals, and coaching a chamber music ensemble, with potential for additional performance opportunities. The Instructor in Horn will also maintain a studio of primarily undergraduate students. These private lessons are compensated beyond the wages of the primary teaching duties.

The UVA Music Department supports a vibrant performance program featuring a wide range of ensembles such as new music, jazz, wind ensemble, and many more. In addition, the Department offers innovative programs in Composition and Computer Technologies, and Critical and Comparative Studies. We are very interested in attracting excellent performance colleagues who can also interact with these areas of the Department in some way.

Finance and Administration Manager

The University of Virginia's Music Department seeks a full-time Finance and Administration Manager to play a key role within a dynamic departmental community. This position entails managing budgets, leading a committed team of staff, and collaborating closely with the department chair to oversee daily operations and events.

The Music Department offers innovative programs in Composition and Computer Technologies, as well as Critical and Comparative Studies in Music. Our diverse performance programs encompass orchestral, choral, band, jazz, new and experimental music, pop, and much more.  The ideal candidate will work alongside dedicated colleagues to deliver exceptional educational and artistic experiences to the UVA community and beyond.
