The McIntire Department of Music is pleased to present the 2019-2020 University of Virginia Chamber Music Series. This annual series, which presents innovative performances by the University of Virginia's world-class performance faculty and celebrated guest artists, is comprised of six professional performances for the University and the central Virginia community. These intimate concerts are programmed to offer both new and traditional works that will delight audiences of all musical tastes.

The series kicks off on Sunday, October 27th at 3:30pm in Old Cabell Hall with a concert by violinist David Sariti.  The program will include W. A. Mozart's Violin Sonata in F Major, K. 377, Caprice Variations for Unaccompanied Violin (based on Paganini) by George Rochberg, Vaughan Williams Two Pieces for Violin and Piano, and the Violin Sonata No. 1 in G Major by Johannes Brahms.  Sariti will be joined by pianist Jeremy Thompson.

Associate Professor of Violin, David Sariti is known for his fluency is a variety of musical languages, from early music to new, notated to improvised.  His programming introduces audiences to less familiar works, and to fresh interpretations of those more familiar.  He has concertized throughout the county as both recitalist and chamber collaborator, on both modern and period instruments.  A recent program was hailed as “Chamber music at a high professional level, reflecting credit on the schools that choose to have their students taught by musicians who not only have academic credentials but are also first-class performing artists.” (Classical Voice of North Carolina).  Faculty at UVA since 2005, Sariti directs the period-instrument Baroque Orchestra, maintains a violin studio, coaches chamber music, and is Principal Violin II of the Charlottesville Symphony at UVA.
