You will not want to miss these sublime candlelight concerts December 2 and 3! Step into the wonder and celebration of this glorious season with the Virginia Women’s Chorus 39th Annual Candlelight Concerts. These concerts have been called Charlottesville’s best-kept secret and welcome many returning listeners each year who leave imbued with the true spirit of the season.

The Chorus will present lovely, reflective music as well as more popular and well-known music, including Let it Snow and Deck the Hall. This concert will feature Snow Angel, which explores themes of love, rebirth, and beauty through the eyes of children and the heavenly army of angels that watch over them, yearning to make a difference in their lives. Haunting and poignant cello and piano lines weave through this evocative five-movement composition. The listener will be carried from the ethereal and mystic realms into a rhythmic, earth-based reality with the voice and djembe in the fourth movement.

These concerts were sold out last year and it is advised that tickets be purchased early to ensure seating. Tickets for Friday, December 2, at 8 PM may be purchased here, and Saturday, December 3, at 3:30 PM here.  Online sales will end 24 hours before each concert. If available, tickets may be purchased at the door.

Accolades come from many concertgoers and include comments such as this: “The concert was stunningly beautiful, sensitively programmed and a musical treat of the highest order.  It really was quite amazing.”
