Brianna Meese - Distinguished Major Voice Recital
The McIntire Department of Music presents a Distinguished Major Voice Recital by Brianna Meese on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 3:30pm in Old Cabell Hall. The recital is free and open to the public.
Brianna Meese is a fourth year student from Franklin Lakes, NJ who has been studying voice under Pamela Beasley for the past four years. Her recital will feature pieces from Purcell, Bernstein, Strauss, and Donizetti and highlight her love for French repertoire with a set of romantic Reynaldo Hahn art songs and two pieces from Delibes' Lakme. These pieces will include the virtuosic Bell Song, and the charming Flower Duet, on which she will be joined by third year soprano, Sarah Sherman. All of these pieces will be accompanied by Karen Dalton on piano.
Throughout the past four years, Brianna has been involved with the University Singers and Chamber Singers, currently serving as the general manager of the group. She is also a member of the Virginia Belles, UVa's oldest all female a cappella group, and just finished a two year term as Music Director. In addition to her involvement as a performer in the McIntire Department of Music, she works as a house manager for Old Cabell Hall and for the Charlottesville University Symphony Orchestra. Although sad to be leaving her home at The University, Brianna is excited to begin her audition process for graduate schools, where she hopes to attain her master's degree in opera.
This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic Lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda. Parking is available in the Central Grounds Parking Garage, or in the lots off University Avenue at the University Corner. Handicapped parking is available in the C1 parking lot or in designated spaces on McCormick Avenue.
