Cellist Ru-Pei Yeh
This year's 3rd annual cello day will feature performances, masterclasses, technique discussions, and cello ensemble sight-reading. The event starts at 11am on Saturday, February 19th and is taking place in room 107 of Old Cabell Hall. Cello faculty Adam Carter and special guest cellist Ru-Pei Yeh (member of the New York Philharmonic) will perform, teach, and discuss cello topics with cello students of all ages and abilities. There will also be an opportunity to play cello ensemble music so attendees are encouraged to bring their cello.

Here is some more information about our special guest Ru-Pei Yeh:

Cellist Ru-Pei Yeh has established herself as a versatile artist who performs regularly in Taiwan and the U.S. Her elegant and lyrical playing has propelled her pursuit in a career as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral player. Ms. Yeh joined the cello section of the New York Philharmonic in 2006. She is one of the founding members of the For mosa Quartet formed in 2003. The quartet won the prestigious London International String Quartet Competition in April 2006.

In September 2006, Ms. Yeh joined the New York Philharmonic as the youngest section cellist. In the 2005-2006 season, Ms. Yeh served as the acting principal of San Diego Symphony, and she also performed as principal of San Diego Opera and in a string quartet with the principal players of the symphony. Her solo appearances with orchestra include Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Evergreen Symphony Orchestra, National Taiwan Symphony, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina School of the Arts International Music Program Orchestra, North Carolina School of the Arts Orchestra, and Kuan-Jen School Orchestra.
