Visiting Instructor/Interim Director of Choral Music (sabbatical replacement)

The University of Virginia's McIntire Department of Music invites applications for a Visiting Instructor/Interim Director of Choral Music (sabbatical replacement) position for the Spring 2019 semester only, beginning January 2019. Primary duties include instructing and conducting the University Singers and UVA Chamber Singers, running auditions and recruitment efforts, programming concerts, overseeing the Reunions Alumni sing, and providing administrative, as well as artistic leadership for the groups' activities, in collaboration with the student officers. Additional departmental service is not required as part of this position. 

Review of applications will begin on November 23, 2018 and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. 

Applicants must have a Master’s degree in conducting. A doctorate or ABD preferred. Previous teaching/conducting experience at the university level or equivalent professional experience is desirable. 

The salary is based on a standard rate of per-class compensation ($6,000/class) for a total of $12,000.
