Family Holiday Concerts with the Charlottesville Symphony and the UVa University Singers
The Charlottesville Symphony at the University of Virginia and the University Singers join forces to present their annual Family Holiday Concerts on Saturday, December 5, at 8:00pm and Sunday, December 6, at 3:30pm. Michael Slon, director of UVA's choral programs and music director of the Oratorio Society of Virginia, will conduct the performances at Old Cabell Hall on the Grounds of the University of Virginia.
Over the past ten years, these popular concerts have launched the holiday season with an array of music ranging from the peaceful to the joyous. Performances this year feature traditional holiday cheer, including "Sleigh Ride," the "Hallelujah Chorus" and interactive crowd favorite, "The Twelve Days of Christmas," and a choral suite from Disney's Frozen. The program will also feature special guest Rita Dove, a United States Poet Laureate, narrating The Night Before Christmas.
Tickets are $10-45 for adults and $10 for students. UVA students may request one complimentary ticket in advance. Tickets may be purchased at The University of Virginia Arts Box Office, (434) 924-3376, 12:00-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in the lobby of the Drama Building at 109 Culbreth Road, or on-line at www.artsboxoffice.virginia.edu.
These concerts are sponsored by the Office of the Provost and the Vice Provost for the Arts at the University of Virginia. The December 5 is also sponsored by Hantzmon Wiebel LLP
