Bio Information:
Yury V. Spitsyn was in the Composition and Computer Technologies (CCT) program at the University of Virginia. Coming from Moscow, Russia, Yury was a longtime member of The Theremin Center for Electroacoustic Music at the Moscow Conservatory where he researched computational aspects of real-time music and gestural input. His current research focuses on making music information retrieval technologies an integral part of the compositional process. For his dissertation on the above topic he develops custom compositional software framework.
Prior arriving in Charlottesville Yury performed in solo and collaborative projects, such as The International Theremin Orchestra, in venues in Russia, Europe and the USA including Moscow Conservatory, DOM (Russia), Ars Electronica Center (Linz, Austria), Porgy&Bess (Vienna, Austria), Melkweg / STEIM (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Tonic, CUNY Graduate Center (New-York, USA), Central Conservatory of Music (Bejing, China) and more.
