Dan Blacksberg is a well-known representative of the younger generation of American klezmer players. He appears regularly with groups led by clarinetist Michael Winograd, singer-songwriter Dan Kahn’s Painted Bird, and has worked with Frank London, Michael Alpert, Alan Bern, Hankus Netsky, Adrienne Cooper, Alicia Svigals, Alex Kontorovitch, and Aaron Alexander. A graduate in jazz performance of the New England Conservatory, he is also active in the Philadelphia’s rapidly growing creative jazz and improvised music scene. Program: Traditional klezmer repertoire from late 18th to early 20th century Eastern Europe, as well as klezmer tunes from early to mid-20th century New York.
