Mamadou Diabate -Jazz Improv Class taught by John D'earth
The public is invited to sit-in as renowned Malian kora musician Mamadou Diabate joins John D'earth and his Jazz Improv class for a lively discussion on Jazz and Jazz Improv including some live music by the group and Mamadou. Douga Mansa, Diabaté's solo album, won the 2010 Grammy for Best Traditional World Music Album. Since moving to this country Diabate has performed with several jazz musicians including Randy Weston, Guy Davis, and Donald Byrd. This is part of a two day residency sponsored by the U.Va. Arts Council.
