Mary Anne Kidwell, flute Distinguished Major Recital

Mary Anne Kidwell will perform an evening of twentieth century flute music including pieces by Astor Piazzolla and Bohuslav Martinu. She will be accompanied by pianist Linda Blondel and guitarist Lanier Sammons. This event is free and is open to the general public. A reception will follow the event.
Mary Anne is a fourth year student at the University of Virginia double majoring in Music and Biology. She has been playing the flute for 12 years and is currently studying privately under Professor Alan Cox. Her past teachers include Jacqueline Yoerges and Judy Lapple. Mary Anne has participated in many ensembles at UVA including the Charlottesville and University Symphony Orchestra, the UVA Flute Ensemble, Opera Viva Pit Orchestra, and the Reel Music Ensemble. She has also been an active member Musician on Call, a student organization that provides music for the UVA hospitals.
This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
