The University of Virginia Department of Music presents a concert featuring visiting guest artist Michael Gause, trumpet, on Thursday, November 16th, 2023 at 7pm in Old Cabell Hall.  Michael Gause will be accompanied by pianist John Mayhood for this free recital of works by Torelli, Pankhurst and Neruda. 

Michael Gause is the Assistant Professor of Trumpet at the University of Iowa School of Music.
Gause holds a BM trumpet performance degree from the University of North Texas and an MM trumpet performance degree from Western Michigan University. He is currently completing the final requirements for the DMA trumpet performance degree at Michigan State University. He has taught at the pre-college (Texas, Michigan, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp) and college level (Saginaw Valley State University, Olivet College). He has held teaching assistantships at Western Michigan and Michigan State. His performance experience includes the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, Aspen Music Festival, Brass Band of Battle Creek, Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony, Youngstown Symphony, Detroit Opera, Lansing Symphony Orchestra, Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Chamber Winds, San Antonio Symphony, Saginaw Bay Symphony, West Michigan Symphony, and the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra.  (Source: University of Iowa School of Music)

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA’s historic lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda. (map) Parking is available in the central grounds parking garage on Emmet Street, in the C1 parking lot off McCormick Rd, and in the parking lots at the UVA Corner.  Handicap parking is available in the small parking lot adjacent to Bryan Hall.
