Memorial Celebration for Dawn Thompson
There will be a memorial celebration for our friend and colleague Dawn Thompson on Sunday, September 17th at 1pm at the Jefferson Theater. Dawn was a noted singer/songwriter/poet, a much loved UVA voice instructor, and an avid supporter of all musicians and especially the Charlottesville music scene. For the past 45 years she was the musical collaborator and life partner to John D'earth.
One of her last recordings, the Thompson/D'earth band's "Mercury," featured the couple. You can listen to Mercury Man here.
The family asks in lieu of flowers please donate to the SPCA, local Hospice, or Environmental Groups. Dawn also served on the Board of Architectural Review for eight years in an effort to protect and preserve Charlottesville's buildings and properties in the historic district. She was a founding member of the Prism Coffee House.
