Department of Music

The McIntire Department of Music presents a Distinguished Major Recital by Jamie Choi on solo violinon Sunday, April 6th, 2014 at 3:30pm in Old Cabell Hall.

Jamie is a fourth year, music major. She will be performing this evening as a culmination of her studies with Dr. Daniel Sender, here at the University. The program includes major works by Franz Schubert, György Kurtag, and César Franck, and will be presented in collaboration with pianists, Shelby Sender and John Mayhood.

During her four years at the University, Jamie has participated in various ensembles, including the Charlottesville University Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Orchestra, and several chamber groups. She currently serves as a mentor for the U. Va. Arts Mentor Program that pairs University students with largely underserved third and fourth grade students from a local elementary school to develop mentoring relationships as well as provide exposure to different styles of fine and performing arts available within the Charlottesville community. On the other hand, Jamie works as a medical scribe at the University Hospital Emergency Room, and plans to attend medical school following graduation.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.

Old Cabell Hall is located on the south end of UVA's historic Lawn, directly opposite the Rotunda.  Parking is available in at the Central Grounds Parking Garage, or in the lots off University Avenue at the University Corner.  Handicapped parking is available in the C1 parking lot or in designated spaces on McCormick Avenue.
