luoYvonne Luo, a fourth-year Music and Foreign Affairs double major from Guangzhou, China, will present a piano recital on Sunday, April 21 at 8pm in Old Cabell Hall. The recital, part of the McIntire Department of Music’s Distinguished Majors Program, is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception in the lobby.

Yvonne presents this performance as the culmination of her years of study under Mimi Tung at the University of Virginia and one year under Andrea Skouras at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. The program includes Mozart’s sonata No. 8, Beethoven’s sonata Op. 10 No. 2, Brahms’ Six Piano Pieces and Chopin’s Etudes Op. 25 and Ballade No.1.

Since the age of three, Yvonne has studied piano in China, the US and Germany. She has acquired the Diploma in Piano Performance from Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, UK while in high school and has performed in Tea Time Recitals, Chamber Seminar Recitals and masterclass for Caio Pagano during her undergraduate career. She is also involved with Musicians on Call, a volunteer organization that sends musicians to perform in the UVA Hospital lobby, and has performed for various students’ groups.

This recital is supported by the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund. Established in 2004 by the generosity of Mr. Alan Y. Roberts ('64) and Mrs. Sally G. Roberts, the Charles S. Roberts Scholarship Fund underwrites the private lessons and recital costs for undergraduate music majors giving a recital in their fourth year as part of a distinguished major program in music.
